Narcos Slot review
Narcos is NetEnt’s version of a branded slot machine, which is dedicated to a popular TV series, inspired by Pablo Escobar’s rise to power.
NetEnt has been teasing Narcos for a long time now, and we knew it would be great once it came out. Our expectations have been met, and we’re looking at a slot machine with awesome graphics, the likes of which NetEnt is always going to deliver for their major titles. The graphics style is part comic book style, part actual photos of people from the series. They’ve turned those actors into cartoon-like characters, but they’re still recognizable. You also see images of police badges, cars, flamingos and plenty of Royals which have various objects next to them (grenades, cash, pistols, etc). Overall, the graphics of Narcos are definitely among the top reasons why you’d want to try out this slot machine.
Looking at what we’re getting in terms of gameplay, Narcos delivers 5 reels and an increasingly common setup with 243 ways to win. Payouts feel only average, as they reach 1,500x total stake, while the RTP is acceptable at 96.23%. Finally, if you’re after features in your slots, you will enjoy the mix of walking wilds, upgraded symbols, re-spins, random wilds and multipliers, which will trigger inside.
The base wager has 20 coins in it, but you can take it up to 200 coins, just by increasing the bet level. As the coin value is also changed, from $0.01 to $2, the total amount wagered goes from $0.20 to $400.
One of the first features, the Badge Wild will be available during all game modes, and it will be both a substitute and a symbol which forms combinations that pay up to 300x.
When a wild is part of a winning combo, it turns into a Walking Wild, which will move to the left each round, one position at a time.
Drive-By is a random bonus, which turns high paying icons into extra wilds.
Locked-Up is activated via its own symbols, showing us Escobar three times on the same row. They each pay up to 10x total stake, and for this feature you get only two types of symbols on the reels. One is called Locked up, the other is Golden Locked Up (multipliers, upgraded symbols, bigger value). They pay by forming clusters in this game mode, and these are free spins that you go through.
Finally, you can also get free spins, via three scatters. The odds of getting high value symbols to turn into wilds is better here.
Overall, an excellent game from NetEnt, with only average payout potential, but fun thanks to all the features offered inside.
