The Goonies Slot review
The Goonies is a branded release from Blueprint Gaming, which is based on an 80s film that was directed by Steven Spielberg.
Coming from Blueprint Gaming, The Goonies borrows from a famous film of the 80s, which many had enjoyed at the time and since then. Directed by Spielberg, the film was picked up by Blueprint to be transformed into a slot machine for the first time, and I’m really enjoying what they came up with here. They are offering a slot machine which has more of a regular pirate theme, the inspiration from the movie being visible mostly during certain features. As such, we’re not looking at 80s style photos on the reels, but on cartoon style icons with pirate flags, ships, skulls, coins, skeletons and treasure chests. They ran out of ideas even so, and they resorted to using Royals for the last couple of positions.
It’s going to feature the usual 20 lines on 5×3 reels, one of the most common setups used these days. 500X the stake appears to be the highest reward possible for one round, while for its features there is an incredible mix of wilds, scatters, 6 types of bonus features and 6 modifiers.
Bet wise, you get to pick a value that you prefer. It’s going to range between $0.10 and $10, and it will cover all 20 lines in play.
The simplest feature in play here is going to be a wild symbol, which is also one of the two capable of paying 500x when forming its own combo.
You should also pay attention to the scattered Bonus Pirate Skull. This one appears on all reels, and scattered on a minimum of three it will trigger One Eyed Willy’s Bonus. A Wheel will spin here, giving you one of six potential features. They consist of bonus games or free spins. The bonus games include Skeleton Organ and Fratelli Hideout. As for the free spins, they are called Inferno, Goonies Go Wild or Super Sloth. The 6th variant is to keep gambling until you get One Eyed Willy’s Treasure.
The reel modifiers come from a feature called One Eyed Willy’s Riches. This one gives you one of six potential modifiers, which have names like Mikey’s Hidden Treasure, Data’s Colossal Symbols, Mouth’s Lucky Coins, Sloth’s Win Spin, One Eyed Willy’s Bonus Boost or Chunk’s Truffle Shuffle.
It’s an interesting game, with lots of good features, and it should be tried out by anyone that liked the original movie.
