Hungry Caterpillars Slot review
The world of insects is the focus of Hungry Caterpillars, a game with cute graphics which revolve around various small bugs.
Coming via Belatra Games, Hungry Caterpillars is a game which has a focus on the world of insects, getting us to the level at which these operate. The caterpillars, and the butterflies that they turn into, are at the core of the game’s theme, but they’re not the only insects which we’re seeing on the reels. Among the symbols we find here, there are the caterpillars, bees, frogs, ladybugs, butterflies, cockroaches and several other variants showing the same caterpillars, eating leaves mostly. The developer chose to go for the cute angle with this one, and the symbols shown on the reels reflect that. You can’t help but smile or look fondly at these bugs, even if in real life you’d be more likely to crush them.
It’s not a game with a lot of active lines for you to play on. Only 9 lines are available, on 5×3 reels, so there was definitely room for more. The game will offer several bonus games, free spins, scatters and wilds, which means that you get a list of features with all the usual options that you’re used to. Potential payouts will include a progressive jackpot, in the 6-figure range, along with its own prizes of up to 10,000x total stake.
You’re getting 9 active lines, and it’s for them that you change the wager, as you see fit. The line bet is the only one changing, either by modifying the number of coins used, or their denomination.
As the game’s wild, you get the Bee Queen, a symbol which both acts as a replacement and can form its own winning combinations.
Reaching the game’s Apple bonus will require the presence of three or more Lamp icons on the reels. As the bonus starts, you have to pick a hole in the apple, in which the caterpillar will enter. It can trigger up to 25 free spins this way, or give you access to bonus Lamps. Once the frog eats the caterpillar, the feature ends. You can use the Crow to stop the frog from eating the caterpillar, which basically gives you one additional life, but only if a wager of at least $45 is used.
The Lantern bonus will have you make selections, and in return it will offer you prizes.
Once the previous features have ended, you get to the free spins that were won in the Apple Bonus. You get a random Walking Wild here, which will move to the right.
Hungry Caterpillars looks interesting enough, a cute game with very good top payouts and several OK features.
